Inogen Attracts Former Apria Director Robert Fary
Arrival of Respected Industry Leader as VP of Sales at Inogen Indicates Growing Momentum, Promise of Future Success for the New Company's Innovative Technology
November 17, 2003
SANTA BARBARA - Robert Fary, former Director of Respiratory Services at Apria, has joined Inogen as Vice President of Sales. Santa Barbara-based Inogen has developed a revolutionary new oxygen concentration device that could have a dramatic impact on the oxygen therapy industry. The arrival of Fary at Inogen, who is well known in the field of oxygen therapy, is viewed by many as an indicator of the legitimacy of Inogen's new technology.
"We're excited and inspired to have Bob Fary join our team," said Kathy Odell, CEO of Inogen. Odell continued, "Bob's experience and understanding of the respiratory health industry has earned him international respect. We're delighted that he recognized tremendous potential in Inogen and our product. Bob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that we're certain will be a tremendous asset to Inogen."
Fary is very well known in the industry for his leadership and decades of experience, as well as business and governmental lobbying efforts. He began his career as a respiratory therapist and served as VP of Sales and Operations for Lifecare International prior to joining Apria.
Fary said, "Every so often something happens that can dramatically change an industry. I think Inogen's innovation is one of the most exciting and disruptive events to touch the oxygen therapy industry in decades. I'm excited to be part of it and offer my experience. Inogen is a great company with an incredibly innovative product."
The Inogen device, called the Inogen One, is designed to serve the medical needs of patients who suffer with respiratory disease and the operating efficiency needs of home healthcare providers who serve those patients. The Inogen One incorporates the functionality of several devices into a single device. It is lightweight, quiet, compact and energy efficient.
Odell continued, "We're awaiting regulatory clearance from the FDA, conducting final testing and gearing up for manufacturing in anticipation of shipping product in Q1 2004."
In addition to Fary, Inogen has assembled a team of experienced health care entrepreneurs, skilled technologists, well known clinicians and home healthcare veterans to develop innovative solutions to respiratory home healthcare challenges. Inogen's team is passionate about their mission and committed to serving the unique needs of respiratory patients and providers.
The arrival of Fary follows Inogen's extremely successful debut at the Medtrade Conference in Atlanta this past October. Odell said, "From the beginning we have been confident that health care providers would be interested in Inogen because our product promises to save them a great deal of money. But we were pleasantly surprised by their immediate enthusiasm and desire to get hold of our product as soon as possible. Even our competitors said 'wow.'" Odell said the positive experience at Atlanta trade show went far beyond the company's expectations and is indicative of an exciting future.
Odell concluded, "I'm incredibly proud of the team we've assembled and their accomplishments to make this company a true force. We have some of the brightest minds in the industry working with us and I'm getting calls everyday from others who would like to work with us. This is a very exciting time for our company.
